چکیده

Pulsed laser deposition was used to grow epitaxial p-FeSis films on Si(ll1) (1X1) and Si(ll1) (7X7) with the following epitaxial orientations: P-FeSi2(OOl)//Si(lll) with @-FeSi~OlO]//Si(llO) and three rotational variants’silicide growth was influenced by substrate temperature and deposition rate, but not by the structure of the starting surface. Films containing both P-FeSia and FeSi were formed at low substrate temperatures and high deposition rates, while films containing only /l-FeSi, were formed at higher substrate temperatures and lower deposition rates. FeSi grains had the following epitaxial relationship to the Si substrate, FeSi(lll)//Si(lll) with FeSi(ilO)//Si(ll2). The microstructure of the silicide films varied with film thickness, as did the roughness at the silicide/Si interface. These results suggest that an Fe-rich environment was created during the growth of the silicide films.

Dependence of pulsed-laser deposition parameters on the microstructure and magnetic property of Nd–Fe–B thin films grown at high substrate temperature

We systematically studied the dependencies of substrate temperature, laser fluence, deposition time, ambient gas pressure and laser frequency on the structural and magnetic properties of Nd–Fe–B thin films synthesized by pulsed-laser deposition at high substrate temperature Ts . A coercive force of 2.0–2.4 kOe was obtained on samples with a thickness of 70–90 nm and an average grain size of 50–...

Growth, structure, and magnetism of fcc Fe ultrathin films on Cu„111... by pulsed laser deposition

Ultrathin Fe films on Cu~111! have been grown by pulsed-laser deposition ~PLD! whose instantaneous deposition rate is about six orders of magnitude larger than that of the conventional molecular-beam epitaxy based on thermal deposition ~TD!. Compared to the TD prepared Fe/Cu~111! films, the PLD films have a significantly improved layer-by-layer morphology and a substantially enhanced stability ...

Study of Sputtered Fe/tSi/Fe Trilayer Films: Magnetic and Electronic Properties

A series of trilayers of sputtered Fe/Si/Fe were grown to study the interface characteristics and magnetic coupling between ferromagnetic Fe layers (30 Å thick) for Si spacer thickness (tSi) ranging from 15 Å to 40 Å. Grazing incidence x-ray diffraction, AFM, resistivity and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) measurements show substantial intermixing between the layers during deposition whi...

Highly conductive nanoclustered carbon:nickel films grown by pulsed laser deposition

An enhancement by 5 orders of magnitude of the electrical conductivity of nanoclustered carbon films is reported by incorporation of metallic atoms, but without significant morphological changes. Films were deposited by 248 nm pulsed laser ablation of both a pyrolytic graphite target and a mixed carbon-nickel (C:Ni) target, and structural analysis revealed that similar film morphologies were ob...

Mössbauer and Magnetic Properties of Coherently Mixed Magnetite-Cobalt Ferrite Grown by Infrared Pulsed-Laser Deposition

We have studied the magnetic properties and the composition of cobalt ferrite single crystal films on SrTiO3 : Nb grown by infrared pulsed-laser deposition. Mössbauer spectra have been recorded from both the target used to grow the films and the films themselves. The Mössbauer spectra of the target taken at low temperatures show a strong dependence of the recoil free fraction of the octahedral ...
